A powerful new exhibition Meticulous Observations has opened at Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery featuring works by 2017 Turner Prize nominee Lubaina Himid along with works selected by her from the Arts Council Collection. Also appearing are 20 of her cut-out figures from the major installation Naming The Money.
The pieces selected by Lubaina, all by women artists, occupy one room within the gallery. At the centre of this display is her 1987 series of watercolour drawings, ‘Scenes from the life of Toussaint L’Overture’, about the former slave who led the Haitian revolution.
The full installation Naming the Money was gifted by the artist to the International Slavery Museum.
The exhibition runs from October 7th 2017 until March 8th 2018
